Cost: Residents of the levy-paying parts of the Macochee Joint Ambulance District may take these classes free of charge, and will be given priority for registration. All others may take these classes on a space-available basis for a fee of $40 to cover the cost of course materials (note: this is an increased rate beginning in 2014). The levy-paying areas include the Village of West Liberty, and the following Logan County townships: Liberty, Monroe and Union (eastern half).
Location & Time: Our community safety classes are held at the Green Hills Retirement Center, on the north side of West Liberty. Students will receive directions and parking instructions with their course registration. Classes are normally held on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
We currently offer American Heart Association (AHA) CPR and First Aid courses to the community. Successful completion of these courses will result in the issuance of an AHA completion card to the student, valid for two years from the date of the class.
Important: Heartsaver CPR/AED and Heartsaver First Aid are SEPARATE classes ... each class is offered individually and will require about four hours each to complete.
Heartsaver CPR & AED: Students will learn to recognize the signs of medical emergencies, master the life-saving skills of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and learn to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). This course will cover skills to use on adults, children and infants. This class will normally last about four hours.
Heartsaver First Aid: Students will learn to recognize the signs of medical emergencies, how to summon help and ensure their own safety, and will master the skills necessary to provide life-saving first aid for a wide range of emergencies. This class will normally last about four hours.
